C6 Project: Silvereyes

At InceptionU, we are very proud of our learners and what they can accomplish in just six short months. It’s an intense deep dive into the world of coding, software development, critical thinking, teamwork and problem-solving.

Over the course of the program, they deepen their knowledge of programming and spend the last three months building a software program which they present on Demo Day. In this series, we introduce you to our learners and invite you to see for yourself their creativity, design skills, teamwork and problem-solving skills. These projects represent months of hard work and, ultimately, helped many of our learners connect and find jobs with some of Calgary’s leading tech companies. Enjoy and share this post with a friend or colleague who you think might find it interesting.

Who:

Andy van der Raadt

Muhammad Khan

Pamela Torres

Rhaissa Verissimo

Why:

Many companies hire third party companies for drone inspections, but there can be problems with miscommunication of inspection requirements and lack of a central database for inspection findings that can be easily accessed by all parties involved.

What they built:

Team Silvereyes built an end-to-end cloud-based user platform for managing and flying drone inspections. The software can help limit costs and inrease efficiencies while reducing safety hazards in accessing difficult to reach locations. The system served three different users: it allowed the client to request the drone inspection, the administrator to manage and assign the job to a pilot and the drone pilot to conduct the inspection. All of this communication is done through an easy to use streamlined communication process.

Facilitator's Comments - Al Del Degan

"This was a brilliant project. Really, it was three apps in one and this kept the group quite busy. This was a really impressive project for a team of brand new programmers. It took an incredible amount of effort and work, but it paid off and they blew us all away."
